Matt joined the Carpenters Union in 2014 via the Helmets to Hardhats Program. As an apprentice, Matt worked for multiple construction companies, but has been full time with Sellen Construction since early 2015.
In his apprentice years, he performed a variety of types of carpentry work including one sided walls, columns and decks, elevator cores, interior finishing, and on dedicated safety teams. Throughout his career Matt has worked on high rises, landmark structures, and in hospital construction settings. He has been involved in both new construction and sustaining works.
In 2019 he was promoted by Sellen Construction to a foreman position that lead carpenter crews and safety crews. In this post he developed a passion for establishing and enacting protocol that ensures safer projects for all involved. Early in 2022, Sellen Construction promoted him to a Safety Manager role. He is currently responsible for developing safety programs and initiatives that highlight the industry standard in safety and put focus on training and building safer teams within the company. Matt is excited to work within the SafeBuild Alliance Board to help achieve safer environments.
